Open letter to Nelson, Johanns, and Terry

According to a report today the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security John Morton said that Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) may not enforce the laws they were created to enforce because they disagree with the recent immigration law passed in Arizona.

Further, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said that ICE has the discretion to enforce the law or not as it pleases.

I thought that selective enforcement of the law was, if not illegal, at least strongly discouraged. In this instance, punishing some law breakers and not others, simply because of where and how they were caught, can only be viewed as another attempt by this Administration to kowtow those that disagree with it. I would never have thought it possible that we could not rely on law enforcement agencies to enforce the laws they are directed to!

Please do not let this obvious slap in the face to the law abiding people of the United States go unchallenged or unquestioned.
